Occupational Therapy (OT) in schools is invaluable as it helps identify and address children's specific needs early on, providing targeted support that enhances their academic and social success. By integrating OT into the school environment, therapists can work closely with educators to create tailored strategies that foster each child's development. This approach not only supports schools in delivering inclusive education but also reassures parents that their child’s unique challenges are being met with expert care and practical solutions, ensuring a positive and supportive experience for everyone involved.

For Schools

Our specialized pre-referral assessment is designed for children who may benefit from additional support but where there is uncertainty regarding the level of support required. This can help determine if a formal NHS referral is necessary. This comprehensive evaluation, typically lasting around 90 minutes, provides an initial overview of a child’s fine motor, gross motor, and sensory processing abilities. It aims to give schools and SENCOs valuable insights to inform next steps in supporting the child's development.

Therapists work directly with students to improve skills such as handwriting, fine motor tasks (e.g., using buttons, zips, and cutlery), gross motor abilities, and sensory processing. These interventions help children achieve their full potential in a school environment. sessions are usually 1 hour and are delivered weekly, over 6 weeks. At the conclusion of the block a summary report is provided.
